It started over cold coffee. Four friends, four different journeys, one shared curiosity — could we create something meaningful in the social sector?
Between the clinking of ice cubes and the occasional laughter, the conversation deepened. We waded through ideas like explorers in uncharted waters. With each sip, we swam further into a sea of possibilities, until we reached the one question that mattered most: Why?
In that moment, the answer crystallized in our hearts — a vision worth pursuing.
The “why” was clear. The “what” and “how”? Not so much.
We stood in front of a white board, armed with markers and an overload of thoughts. Scribbles turned into lists, lists turned into debates, debates into doodles. We weighed pros and cons, tore down ideas, and rebuilt them again.
Hours later, our rough sketch emerged — the first map of a project that would become our starting point. The white board was no longer just a board; it was the birthplace of our first plan.
Now comes the identity crisis: What should we call ourselves?
We wanted more than a label — we wanted a name that could hold our vision, reflect our purpose, and stay with us through every milestone ahead. After dozens of ideas, word plays, and late-night texts, we found it, three simple letters: FIF.
Fostering India Foundation — three words that held our purpose and felt like home.
The name was chosen. The plan was in place. Now it was time to leave the comfort of ideas and step into the reality of action. We began by setting up our foundation — defining how we would function, assigning roles, and shaping the structure that would hold our vision together. Every discussion, every late-night call, every tiny decision felt like laying the first bricks of something that would outlast us.
It wasn’t a grand launch or a headline moment. To the world, it might have looked like a quiet beginning. But to us, it was monumental — the moment when our dream stopped being just words on a board and started taking shape in the real world.
Our journey so far has been made of coffee-fuelled ideas, scribbled boards, late-night debates, and the quiet thrill of first steps. But this is only the prologue.
The road ahead is long and full of possibilities. We see ourselves reaching deeper into communities, building bridges between voices that have never met, and turning challenges into opportunities for change. Our five core values will remain our compass, no matter how far or fast we travel.
